ZZ Top - Rättvik, Dalhalla, Sweden - 06/28/2024
ZZ Top's European tour started in Dalhalla, Sweden. It was also my first show in this tour. Dalhalla It's a really amazing place. The venue is made in an old quarry? I started my journey after work on Thursday evening. I took a ship to Sweden and then drove to Dalhalla. The journey was a bit exciting because my car had been breaking down over the past few weeks. However, I took the risk and tried to make it there (and back home). Once I was there, I was supposed to meet my ZZ friend before the show, but after waiting a long time, not seeing him, I went to the area by myself.
I had with me a photo album, what I made for Billy, which contained some old ZZ Top photos. The pictures were taken by Pete Tickle, who was their tour manager back in the day? I got those photoslides and I digitized them. The venue was really challenging because the area was very well fenced off, and an ordinary fan like me couldn't get anywhere near it. I tried to look for Pablo and everyone else. I had already lost hope until, fortunately, I got in touch with Jennifer Francis. She was very kind and came to pick up the photo album from me and delivered it to Billy. A huge thank you to you, Jennifer!
The show started, and I had a really good seat. It was great to see Elwood playing a bass and he totally rocked it! Truly awesome! And that big yellow bass guitar was really crazy! x) The show was energetic and they seemed to be having fun playing. The crowd rocked and sang songs. The Highlight for me was, when they played "Head´´´´s in Mississippi," Sharp Dressed Man" ( sharp dress is my favourite guitar playing song)
and "Brown Sugar" Totally awesome ZZ Show!
Originally, I was supposed to go to the Oslo concert the next day, but I have to be at work on next Monday morning 5:00 am. After the show I drove four hours at night. I was then ready in the morning waiting for the ship back to Finland. And my car lasted all the way home. Driving a total of 800 kilometers. Woohoou! x)

My next concert would be a week from now on Saturday in Berlin, Germany. Let's maybe try to meet them there, at least from a distance. hahaha x)
There are good memories from there. The first time I was there in 2013 in the audience and the second time in 2015 and it was amazing when I got to watch the concert from Dusty's side next to the stage. But anyway...see ya In Berlin!
